    Connect Your HORI Controller

Wireless HORIPAD for Steam supports XInput over USB, not Bluetooth, according to its support guidance. A Bluetooth connection therefore should not be assumed to produce the same standard gamepad layout.

Fighting Commander OCTA for Windows is a fightpad, not a conventional two-stick controller. Match the exact platform edition and switch settings before interpreting its button and axis counts.

    1. Confirm the controller’s platform mode and supported connection. Use a USB data cable or the receiver specified for that exact model.
    2. Focus this page, press a face button and choose the responding device from the connected-controller menu.
    3. Press and release each control. Check raw indices if the device has no standard mapping.
    4. Record your connection, software profile and trigger-stop setting before saving a snapshot.

    Before You Test

XInput is documented over USB only. Bluetooth can expose a different input path.

Start with the normal manufacturer-supported PC connection. Record firmware, connection and profile before saving a snapshot.

    What To Check Here

    1. Press each face button and direction once. Use the raw input list if the browser has no standard mapping.
    2. Move the sticks around their range, release them and run the resting-stick test. Save the active profile alongside the results.
    3. Squeeze and release both triggers. A short-travel or digital mode can change the values you observe.

Rear buttons can repeat existing inputs. Browser rumble does not test motion sensors, audio or adaptive-trigger resistance.

Fightpad Readings Need A Different Checklist

For a fightpad, concentrate on the D-pad, face buttons, shoulders and any fitted stick. A standard-looking browser mapping is not proof that the device physically has two analog sticks or analog triggers.

Check directional inputs one at a time and then diagonally. If a mode switch changes whether a direction appears as buttons or axes, save a note and start a fresh comparison.

Steam Input can add a virtual mapping to HORIPAD for Steam. Record whether that software is active and select the responding device instead of assuming the first gamepad entry is the physical controller.

Turn A Reading Into A Useful Comparison

Check one variable at a time. For unwanted stick movement, release the sticks onto a stable surface and run the ten-second resting test. For a missing action, compare a direct button press with its rear-button assignment. Save a note identifying the active profile so a later result can be reproduced.

The browser-reported device name can describe a virtual gamepad. The optional model reference is your selection, not automatic hardware identification. Brand listing does not guarantee vibration, independent paddles or vendor-specific controls in your browser.

    Questions About This Controller Family

Do I need two sticks to finish a test?

No. Fightpads can have different physical controls. Skip inapplicable guided steps and inspect actual D-pad/button readings. A reported standard mapping can include virtual controls.

Why is HORIPAD for Steam different over USB?

HORI documents XInput over USB for that model. Bluetooth and Steam Input may expose another input path. Keep the connection and active layout in your setup note.
